Alright, Earth Day would have been better too. IGN: Why reveal the game on April Fool's Day? With everyone doing April Fool's jokes, this felt like a sure-fire satire, but then we learn it's real? There are still people out there who still think it's a joke! Garth Chouteau: We at PopCap would like to apologize profusely to anyone who was duped, and are now glad we didn't issue a bogus press release further confusing things! But we did manage to ask PopCap spokesperson Garth Chouteau some questions, and he was kind enough to reply in a typically fun PopCap kind of way. PopCap isn't saying much beyond the initial reveal and that the game is coming out on May 5. PopCap carried what many around the office considered to be a joke even further by including a hilarious music video for the game, as well as an optional Japanese version of the song! But it turns out that it's all real, and it's apparently the next big game from the maker of such insidiously addictive fare as Peggle, Bejeweled, and Bookworm. Zombies game was part of the April 1 fun. Amidst all the April Fool's Day stories about Crocodeagles (Qualcomm), rogue AI that loves Pandas (Google), and more going on Wednesday, it was easy to look at PopCap's Web page and assume that the newly-revealed Plants vs.
